Quotes to Live By 013

Lucky number 13! I cannot believe I’ve already done 13 Quotes to Live By! I really hope everyone is enjoying these as much as I am enjoying writing them. As always, I will share with you a few quotes and my take on them. Feel free to share your own opinion on the quotes in the comment section below as well as share your own favorite quote.

“You take your life in your own hands, and what happens? A terrible thing, no one to blame.” – Erica Jong

Isn’t blaming someone else for your own faults or simply for something going wrong so much easier than blaming yourself? OF COURSE IT IS! We, as humans, wish to never ever be wrong! Let’s face it though being wrong and human error is definitely inevitable. Instead of living your life for others, in which you’d have someone to blame if something were to go wrong, why not live life for yourself?! After all, this is your life to live, no one but yours; so why give someone else the power to control it? Take life into your own hands, do what you want, what you really want and if something goes wrong then oh well, you are to blame but at least you were living life for you.

“We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.” – Oscar Wilde

Life is all about what you do when you are down. Are you the kind of person to sulk and throw a pity party or are you the kind of person that embraces failure and looks for better things? Being down is inevitable; looking up while you’re down is the best way to get you to reach the top again. Keep going, keep fighting, keep looking at the stars.

“I don’t count my sit-ups. I only start counting when it starts hurting. That is when I start counting, because then it really counts. That’s what makes you a CHAMPION.” – Muhammad Ali

That seems a bit intense doesn’t it? An amateur athlete such as myself probably wouldn’t take this quote too seriously when it comes to working out – although it would be very interesting to see what happens…soreness, probably lots and lots of soreness. Anyway, in my opinion, this means that victories only count after you’ve put in a lot of effort and work. By victories I don’t mean winning a boxing match or anything of that sorts, it can be a victory in terms of reaching a goal you’ve worked towards for so long.
