Get To Know: Joyce

Hey everyone, how are you all doing today?! Our amazing Get To Know guest today is Joyce. Without further-ado, let’s get to know the lovely Joyce!

THE BASICS:

Name:Joyce Tanmuoh

Nickname(s): Joycie, Juciey or Joycelyn

Occupation: Barista, customer service and kitchen hand ( Cafe work)

Nationality: African

Country Currently Living In: Australia

Let’s Get a Little Personal:

Favorite:

Favorite makeup brand? I would have to say Black Radiance because I find all the other brands of makeup don’t seem to quite accommodate for us black girls.

Favorite clothing brand? Valley Girl, I absolutely love their clothing line because I find their stuff is affordable but yet pretty and very girly. Most of my wardrobe is from them.

Favorite TV show? The Nanny (This show always make me laugh so much) My favourite actor has to be by far Neil’s. I find he brings such humor and Sass to the movie.

Favorite film? 10000 BC

Favorite genre of music?Contemporary Pop

This or that:

Eyeliner or mascara? Definitely mascara I find my makeup  always looks unfinished without it and it just always makes your eyes pop and standout.

Blush or highlighter? I would have to say highlighter because I find it helps bring contrast and a nice glow to my face. My favourite thing is to put it on my cheekbones to give them that nice glow and make them stand out more.

Summer or winter? Winter; definitely winter I just love the look of wearing boots, sweaters and rugging up. Also if you are a girl with super oily skin then Winter is always your friend as it helps keeps everything in place.

Beach or woods?  Beach; I love the waves, the sand and the salty cleansing water. I also the feeling when u have just been to the beach and how your skin just feels so clean an amazing!!!

Big city or small village? I would have to say Big City. I love shopping, and going out so I think I would struggle in small village with not much to do or explore. I am definitely a city girl!

Simple Questions:

When did you start blogging? I started 3 months ago

Why did you start blogging? I started blogging because I really wanted to share my passion and desire for music with you guys and most of all my journey discovering and learning new things every day. I have found blogging amazing because I find makes me think about music all the time but also broadens my knowledge every day as I read other bloggers work.

Do you have a blogging schedule, if so, what is it? I usually blog twice a week. I blog on Sunday and Thursday’s.

What is your favorite post that you’ve written? My favourite would have to be this one: Fine Art Of Painting A Song I think I loved it the most because for me it was revelation and realisation personally of how music and art are so similar in the way that writing a song is you literally painting a picture for your audience with your words.

What do you like to do on a hot summer day?I like to either  go to the beach or spend the day at home in an air conditioned house hanging out with my family and friends or just reading a nice book.

How do you prefer to spend your Sundays?I always work on Sunday’s because where I work we are also open on weekends.

Let’s Get a Deeper Connection:

What advice would you give your younger self?

It’s funny that you ask me this question because I just did a post about this.  I would say to my younger self pursue and work after your dreams of becoming a recording artist but also learn to enjoy life and your friends and family. Enjoy your childhood, learn how to play instruments and  also take singing lessons because you will very much enjoy it.

What advice would you give the younger generation in general?

Don’t let others define who you are meant to be and don’t place your worth in Christ be based on what others have to say. Be the person you were made to be and value the gifts of your family and learn and love the friendships that you have rather than just shopping,girls/ boys, appearances and etc.

What inspires you to blog?

My inspiration comes from my love for music and singing which is purely the reason why  I created a blog to be able to share with you guys my journey of learning and pursuing my dream.

How would you friends describe you?

I asked one of my bestest friend how she would describe me and this is what she had to say:

“I think the word that sticks with me is meaningful, you treasure things that mean something to you and get hurt by things that are meaningful on a deeper level. You are sweet with things you do and quite meaningful about it “

What quote or quotes have had a great impact on your life?

My favourite quote would have to be “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your pass straight .” (Proverbs3:5-6)  It’s my favourite quote because it was the scripture that was read over after I got Baptized and it has that special impact for me of the day I decided to leave my old life behind me and walk in the path of righteousness.

Joyce, I cannot thank you enough for taking the time out of your day to complete this interview. It was absolutely amazing getting to know you a bit better and reading all of your answers.

  1. I think I actually screamed (just a tiny bit) when she said her favorite show was The Nanny! I grew up on that show and it is so very near and dear to my heart.

I really loved how you phrased something in your blog post, that ‘songwriting is like paining a picture on a black canvas.’ That resonated with me in a way I wasn’t expecting given that I’m not generally musically inclined.
