Simple Questions:

You recently went self hosted, what was the motive behind that? I had been looking into it for a while. It seemed like the next step to take for my blog. With my blogs, I also love posting huge amounts of photos, and on the free site, you have a limited amount of space, which I was already up to 70% with after only 4 months of blogging. I also liked the idea that I would own my site and everything I post, rather than WordPress. So, with the encouragement of fellow bloggers who had also made the change, I decided I wanted to give it a go as well.
Why did you feel that it was the “right” time to become self hosted? I don’t know if it was the ‘right’ time. I just knew I wanted to do it soon, so I set a date, a month in advance, and went with that. It gave me time to prepare, save, and figure out how to do the change. I do feel like it’s best to make the change when you feel like you’ve gotten all you can out of the free site. For me, that was just four months, but for others, it could be longer or shorter. But don’t make an impulsive jump, for me, I feel like you should plan it out.
How long does it take your to get ready in the morning? It takes me probably an hour. On a work day, I like to have a shower in the morning, so that takes up some time. But it helps me feel refreshed for the day ahead. So shower, breakfast, get dressed, get ready, get out of the door. All that takes between 45 minutes to an hour on a typical morning.
Can your describe your typical day for us? Sure. I get up. I get ready for work, if I have time, I squeeze in some blogging. I go to work, hang out with the babies, then I come home. We figure out dinner, then I’ll blog a little more, sometimes I read or play games. If I’m feeling energized I’ll try to work out but that’s a rare occurrence now. Then eventually, I go to bed. That’s about it.
Do you have any pets? Nope
What do you find is the hardest part of blogging? Nowadays, it’s how time consuming it is. It’s on my brain a lot, whether it’s thinking of posts, writing them, taking pictures, reading and staying up-to-date with everyone’s posts. It eats up a lot of time. Most days, I feel like I have a balance, but I have some days where I just don’t feel like it. So on those rare days, I just step back.

Let’s Get a Deeper Connection

What has blogging taught you about yourself? That I am passionate about a whole bunch of things. I love taking photos, baking, writing..I’m getting more into make up and fashion, I’m learning more about travel..Basically it’s given me a lot more confidence. In myself, in what I can do, and it’s become my little happy corner.
What aspects in your life do you want to work on? Fitness for sure. I’m not terribly unfit, but I could be better. I keep working on it, but then I forget for months on end. That’s the main one, that and my other side hobbies that I keep forgetting about too, like learning the ukulele and reading more. Oh, and the big life skill one, driving again.
What are your life goals? Travel more, be happy, one day have a family, maybe go back to study Masters in Education.
What are your blogging goals? It used to be reach 1000 or go self-hosted, but now I hit those I’m drawing a blank. I’m happy where I am, and I just want to see where it takes me. Oh, actually, I’d love to still be actively blogging in a year. That would be awesome!
What motivates you to get up each day? That I need to go to work and get paid. Ahaha, well sort of that. But also, right now we have lots of exciting things coming up, like moving house, my sister’s wedding, so each day I get up is another day closer to those!

Fiji sounds like it would be a dream and one of my all time favourite quotes is also “admire someone else’s beauty without questioning your own”! Totally agree about blogging goals too… My goal is just to remain happy and constantly improve my content to be the best it can be. This is always such an amazing series Bea, I love it! xx
