New Year Resolutions

Happy New Year!!! I hope you all had a lovely time bringing in the new year of 2017; celebrating with friends and family.

Let’s start this year right by creating our New Year Resolutions! I know what you’re thinking: what’s the point of resolutions, I never stick to them anyway? Well here’s the point, it sets a goal for you to attempt to reach, a goal to work towards with all your might. Goals are important because they help you grow as a person.

The key to making resolutions is to make them reachable and to make at most three. The issue with many of us is we try to make resolutions far beyond our reach and we come up with way too many. This year, I want you to focus on three resolutions you are passionate about and that you really wish to reach!

Did you have resolutions last year? Did you reach them? Let me know!

I made three resolutions last year, they were:

  • Walk my dog more often (check)
  • Workout more often; at least 4-6 times a week (check; for the most part)
  • Do more of what makes me happy (CHECK)

In 2016, I focused on walking my dog more because I felt bad that I wasn’t doing it enough, especially since she loves it so much. This past year, more than any other year, I brought her on walks to the park, walks around the neighborhood and even on a hike once. As for working out, in January of 2016 my doctor told me that for health reasons I really need to start working out some more and therefore, if it came down to my health and well being I decided it was definitely necessary to workout more often. I stuck to working out 4-6 times a week for the most part, however I do have to admit I slacked off because I got too busy August- beginning of October. Doing more of what makes me happy was inspired by Alfie Deyes, a British YouTuber who lives by this quote. I felt the need to live my life for myself and doing whatever I wanted to make me happy was what I planned to do. I definitely think this year I did more of what makes me happy by traveling to new places and of course starting this blog and actually sticking to it. Blogging makes me happy and I had done it in the past but always gave up on it, but not this year.

This Years Resolutions:

  • Healthy eating 5 days a week
  • Work on my photography
  • Explore new places

Reasons for these specific resolutions

Healthy Eating

Okay, okay, I eat pretty healthy, or I tell myself I do anyway. What I really want to focus on is eating healthy during the week and then on my weekends I allow myself to cheat away! This doesn’t mean I’m going to completely cut out sweats during the week. I’m going to allow myself to have dessert each night however, it has to be small like really small, enough to just take the urge away. I will also completely cut out cookies and chocolates during lunch unless they are organic and good for me. My lunches will mostly consist of fruits, veggies and salads or something along those lines. I’m really looking forward to this and hope I can keep to it!

Work on my photography:

I’ve always been into photography however I’ve never owned a professional or semi-professional camera. In December I finally purchased a really good camera and I plan to use it more often to take nice photos.

Explore New Places:

One thing I love to do is explore new places, whether it’s new land or new restaurants, I really simply enjoy it. This year I want to explore new restaurants, new cafes, and of course find new places to visit.

Did you make any resolutions last year? Did you stick to them? Are you making any resolutions this year? Let me know in the comment section below!

  1. Good luck with your resolutions. I would like to co-opt one of yours, and make “work on my photography” one of mine also. Especially now with the blog. It’s only a month old and I can see that I really need to step it up on that front! Thanks for the post!
