Day 5 of Road Trip:

As mentioned in my previous post, my boyfriend and I continued our East Coast Road Trip by leaving St. Augustine and continuing our journey down the coast of Florida to Cocoa Beach. The distance from one pristine beach to the other is approximately 128 miles which is about 2 hours in time. We rented a house at Cocoa Beach from HomeAway If you’ve never used HomeAway, I would highly recommend it.

We planned on staying at Cocoa Beach for two nights and a day and since we had been on the road for 5 days already, a house, with a laundry machine was perfect for us. The outside of the house was very nice, bright yellow with white trimmings. The inside of the house was equally as nice opting for the beachy vibes and decor on walls with bright red sofas. The only thing I found a bit odd about the house was that to access the bedrooms we had to go through the outside as there were no stairs inside the house that lead up. All in all we loved the house though. We arrived on Day 5 just in time to do some exploring before the sunset and thunder clouds began to stroll in, typical Florida weather. As my boyfriend cooked tacos for dinner, I took care of the laundry, we then enjoyed the sunset and storm before heading off to bed.

Day 6 of Road Trip:

We woke up had breakfast and sipped on our coffees in the backyard that overlooked a river before we decided to take a stroll in a local park. The park was nice, had plenty of turtles swimming in the pond and a variety of birds that I wouldn’t typically see in a park in Jersey.

After our stroll we headed to the Cocoa Beach Pier and explored some more. The pier, had a tavern at the end called Rikki Tiki Tavern but unfortunately it was closed when we went. From the pier you can admire the coastline, the clear waters and do my personal favorite thing, people watch. We watched plenty of people catch some waves, miss some waves, and fumble about the water while on the pier.

After the pier we visited the local Ron Jon Surf Shop which apparently is a really big thing in this area. Ron Jon had just about anything from surfboards, to longboards, to wet gear, swimsuits, tees, shot glasses, you name it, they probably have it. The store was massive and quite overwhelming to look around at all they had to offer. After leaving the store we decided to go back to the house to enjoy the paddle boards on the river. I’ll admit, the river water wasn’t clear, it was quite murky and kinda gave me the chills not knowing what was under that water. Could it be fish? A manatee? A possible Alligator? Who knows. Despite the fear, I still used the paddle board for quite some time, but never did I go swimming in the water.

After some paddle time we went across the street, literally, to the beach to enjoy clearer water that we weren’t afraid to dive into. After some time in the water, looking for seashells and enjoying our time in the sun we returned to our HomeAway to eat dinner. We were lucky once again because the sun set on the river and just as the clouds began to roll in again, we captured some nice shots and enjoyed the stormy evening.
