Charleston, SC

Welcome everyone, how are you all doing today? Up to anything fun and interesting? Let me know in the comment section below!

Today I am going to be talking to you about one of my favorite places that America has to offer and that is Charleston, South Carolina. If you’re keeping up with my posts than you’ll know that I went on an East Coast Road Trip and I have decided to write about my journey and experiences in a series of blog posts. Charleston took place on Day 3 of our road trip after we finished exploring Myrtle Beach which I talked about on my last post.

Day 3 of Road Trip Continued:

As previously mentioned, day 3 of the road trip started in Wrightsville, North Carolina and lead to Myrtle Beach where we explored the boardwalk, had some food and soaked in some rays before heading on our 2 hour journey to Charleston, South Carolina. When we arrived to Charleston, I was immediately blown away by the architecture of the homes, the fun bright colors and glorious palm trees all around. We immediately parked our car and we were ready to do some on foot exploring. We had no particular destination in mind, we just wanted to experience the inner city and all it had to offer. We came across a ton of brand known shops and plenty of small boutiques which made Charleston feel so warm, cozy and inviting for some reason.

As we explored, we came across the Market Hall which is a Greek Revival style hall that was built in 1841. The hall is made of brownstone stucco, red sandstone and has green ironwork. The hall is known for it’s shops such as At Home, Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit, Charleston Christmas Collectibles, Gita’s Gourmet, Sweet Charleston and much more.

After exploring the hall we began to deliberate on where to eat; with a city filled with amazing restaurants, how can we only pick one?! I’m not exaggerating when I say it literally took us over an hour if not two to settle on a place because we knew we were only there for a night and we were in desperate need of a good meal. We decided to eat at Paw Paw. Paw Paw offers modern, Southern inspired food that focuses on family farms and seasonality. Due to this establishment being run on seasonality, their menu changes according to the peak of the season and local and regional ingredients.

I ordered the local shrimp linguine which contains garlic cream, heirloom tomatoes, parmesan, and breadcrumbs. My boyfriend ordered wood grilled sword fish with sweet corn succotash, andouille sausage and creole butte. I can’t be the only one to have a my mouth watering right now, correct? I cannot speak on the behalf of my boyfriend, but on my behalf, I have never tasted such an amazing and perfect shrimp linguine dish, in fact, I dream of it to this day and cannot wait to return for another tasty bite!

After dinner, we continued strolling through the town, admiring the wind breezing through the palm trees, the waves crashing along the shore line and the beautifully painted picturesque homes. We came across a park which had many people picnicking, playing chess, running, and enjoying life before we decided to hit the hay and rest up before our next adventure.

Have you ever been to Charleston? Did you love it as much as I did? I cannot wait to go back, simply so breathtakingly beautiful!

  1. OMG Charleston is so beautiful (and so are you I must add). When I lived in SC some time ago, I couldn’t get enough of it. The shrimp there is like no other in this country. I also love She Crab Soup!!
The Market area is where I dined alot at places like Tbonz, and The Oyster House. I also loved The Market for shopping and The Battery to look out at the ocean. Another gorgeous place to check out in SC is Georgetown and Huntington Beach State Park just north of it. Big hugs!!

  2. The place looks great. I struggle to choose somewhere to eat too. I generally end up in a regular haunt. You want something good or interesting and good value too. Lovely pics of you too.
