Blogging Advice 011

You would think I would be done with this series but apparently I keep coming up with more advice to share with you all.

Welcome back to another Blogging Advice post where you are given advice from not an expert blogger but just from little ol’ Bea. I hope you’re ready for some more non-expert advice from me and are ready to share what you think in the comment section below. Let’s get started!

Love Existing Readers

Obviously we all want to grow, we all want to be big and we all want to make a name for ourselves. Part of making a name for yourself is by being able to spread your blog in some way shape or form and by posting quality posts. Although you may be such an eager beaver to get all the followers in the world, don’t neglect the people who have been there since the beginning of your journey. It’s great to get new followers and appreciate the growing numbers but it’s equally as important and wonderful to remember those first couple of readers you had. Personally, I try to show my love for my readers by replying to every comment I see; now have there been comments I missed? Yes probably, but I haven’t missed them on purpose, unless they are spam in which case, yes I ignored you. I make the effort to interact with my readers both new and old. My older readers have a special place in my heart because either they have spread my blog out there by sharing it on their page or they’ve constantly sent me sweet messages on my Instagram. Okay, you caught me, I’ve only had one person that truly constantly sends me sweet messages on Instagram but still, she has such a special place in my heart – you know who you areleast I hope you do. Anyways, I’m getting carried away here…remember to show your appreciation and your love for your CURRENT readers, the new ones will come but always focus on your CURRENT audience, not on your future potential audience.

Expect Critics

The haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate” thank you Taylor Swift for reminding us to constantly shake off those haters. Critics are expected; I’ve actually received a handful of critical comments but I mean what am I going to do? SHAKE IT OFF! It’s expected that people out there won’t agree with your every move or your every comment or post but there is nothing you can do about it other than Shake It Off. Not into shaking? Perhaps brushing it off will do too. Think about it, celebrities out there get criticized over their every move and if they were to worry about it every time they would mentally lose it! If you’re getting some hate just ignore it and be nice to the person because at the end of the day, that is really all you can do. No need to get worked up, angry or sad, just brush it off and move on.

  1. First of all I can’t get enough of your blogging advice! I learn so much from these posts and really appreciate it that you share your advice with us. Keeping up with your ‘original’ readers is so important in my opinion and also so much fun! I mean there’s this one girl who reads my blog for quiet a while now, who uploads amazing content and is called Bea 😉 xx
I also can’t stop singing shake it off now so thanks for that 😉 xx

  2. Shake it off is a great suggestion. I follow anyone that follows me and I also reply to every comment (of course I’m not as big as you in the blogging world!).

Im still loving this series, and i love your first point. While your blog grows, it’s good to still interact regularly with those who’ve been with you from the early days 😄

  5. I wanted to thank you for the like. This post was especially relevant. I appreciate folks taking the time to read my silly posts. I’m still working out the right balance. One thing I would like to do is encourage more commenting. I probably need to make it plainer. Thank you again!

  8. I totally just binge-read your entire blogging advice series! A lot of really great tips, especially for someone just starting out. 🙂 I completely agree with you on what you wrote about being organised before – it makes things run so much more smoothly.
And it’s always nice seeing the same people come back week after week to read what you have to say – so thanks for being one of those people for me 🙂 Looking forward to hopefully some more great advice! Jenny x

  9. You are very right Bea…..and I truly believe that as much effort we give on creating our perfect blog, a similar and even more effort must be given to read other blog posts and give out ample attention to the community…….I spend much of my blogging time reading my fellow friend bloggers’ posts…..and send genuine responses and shares however you can………I have covered this in my post here http://mydailyjournalonline.com/what-you-give-is-what-you-get/ …..you can have a look if you want.
