Self Care

Self care is highly important. We often focus on our physical well being by staying fit and going to the gym or working out at home which is very important but mental health and sanity is just as important as physical health and looking fit. Today I want you to take the time out for you and only you. I want you to put yourself first and no one else because that is another thing we tend to do, put everyone else before ourselves which really withers away at us mentally. Today I want you to focus on “me time.” Below I have some suggestions for self care, hopefully you find them helpful and really decide to take the time out of your day to focus on you.

Meditation

Meditation may not be for everyone and everyone may not want to give this one a go but the least you can do is try and see if it does work for you. As I’ve mentioned in a post last month, I was really struggling with Mental Health, basically I was having really bad anxiety and panic attacks. I had read online and several people had mentioned that meditation really helped them so I decided to give it a go. That particular week was really rough for me and whenever I felt a panic attack coming along I would put on a meditation video, lay down on my yoga mat and just focus on what Adriene from Yoga With Adriene was saying. I focused on my breath, I focused on me, I focused on controlling my mind to do what I wanted it to do at that moment which was to just chill out. I did this video so many times in that one week and it really helped me feel much more relaxed and in control of my own body. I know that there are several people out there that meditate daily and I can’t say I do this but every once in awhile it’s really good for the mind.

Spa Day Out

What better way to relax and really take care of your own self than to take a spa day? I remember the first time I ever went to a spa, I didn’t want to leave. I felt so relaxed, so at ease, so calm, so happy. If you’ve never gone to a spa I would definitely say that you need to book one near you, don’t just go for the cheapest one near you, spoil yourself a bit and go for a more luxurious spa. While you’re away at the spa, turn your brain off, don’t focus on anything but benefiting and helping yourself be a calmer, happier and more relaxed person. The spa that I’ve been to twice now is Aire Ancient Baths in New York and I would recommend it to anyone and everyone!

Spa Day In

What is better than lighting up some candles and lounging around in a robe all day or all night?! Not much! Grab yourself a bath bomb from Lush, fill up the tub, grab your laptop and a glass of wine (if you’re old enough to drink) and just spend some time relaxing at your home spa! Once you’re done with your long warm bath get out and get into a comfy robe then give yourself a mani pedi, a foot rub, and a facial then just sit back and relax into your comfy bed.

Mani Pedi

I don’t know about you but manicures and pedicures just make me feel so much better! There is something about treating yourself to get your nails done that just feels better than doing them yourself, perhaps I’m saying this because I’m not very good at painting my own nails. Truthfully though, take the time out of your day to spoil yourself to a mani pedi!

Yoga

Obviously I know that yoga is a form of physical exercise and therefore you will be getting toned and fit by doing this but yoga is also very relaxing and soothing to the mind. If you’re at home and are feeling a bit anxious and meditation isn’t your thing because you don’t like to be still for long periods of time, perhaps focus on yoga and build up to the whole idea of meditation. I use Yoga With Adriene whenever I am in the mood to do yoga. Adriene has a YouTube channel with a variety of different yoga videos for different modes and problems. Try her videos out and who knows, you may get zenned out.

Of course what I’ve mentioned above is only a small list of things you can do for self care, there are plenty of other things you can do. In fact, let me know in the comment section below what you do as an act of self care for yourself!

    1. Yoga is definitely so beneficial in so many ways, I find it so relaxing and definitely helps with anxiety. I have never tried essential oils, maybe I should look into that. Thanks for dropping by! x

  3. I’m not a spa girl sadly…. It really freaks me out the idea of people touching me haha so weird but the fear is real. I have recently taken up yoga! I’m really enjoying it and kicking myself for not trying it sooner. It’s really helped me come back to the now which I’m learning is something I need more in my life!! 🙂
I also find getting out in the fresh air works wonders for me!! Esp when its crisp and fish out 🙂

  5. This is something I keep telling people around me who are always stressed. It’s so important to find time for yourself and experience calm and silence. We all need healing. Sometimes from stress and sometimes from some past experiences.I myself practice meditation everyday without fail. It keeps my mind peaceful and working in its optimum best. I loved the post 👌

    1. I’m so happy to have found someone who inspires others to take time for themselves. It truly helps to just sit back and relax each day and not let the stresses of the world bother you. I’m glad you practice meditation everyday, it’s something I think more people should do, including myself since I’ve only done it a few times but I did notice a difference. Thank you so much for dropping by!

  6. Thanks for the tips! I once heard someone on YouTube who was talking about free time. He said the best way to ensure that you have a little time each day for yourself is to schedule it into your planner (if you use one). Then whatever you have going on that day will be working around that free time. I tried it a couple of times and it really does work, I also noticed I got a lot more done during the day but I still had time to relax and recharge.
