Get To Know: The Pastry Poet

I want to start off this particular post by thanking everyone who has either taken a part in this series or that has been reading them. I’ve been receiving such amazing, positive and loving feedback on this series and I am so happy that everyone is enjoying it so therefore I will continue this series as long as I have people to interview.

Today, our lucky guest is The Pastry Poet. The Pastry Poet actually went out of her way to reach out to ME, which is very different and I absolutely love the fact that she enjoyed this series so much that she was eager to take part in it. The Pastry Poet emailed me with the sweetest, most kind words in the world that literally brought tears and chills so how could I not be inclined to interview her?! The Pastry Poet runs a fabulous blog where she shares recipes, awards, and all things life. Go, go, go to check out her blog!

The Basics:

Name: The Pastry Poet, since I am an anonymous blogger for now!
Nickname(s):  Oh I wish I could reveal these, there’s so many!
Occupation: None yet, just a high-school student
Nationality: Indian
Country Currently Living In: India

Let’s Get A Little Personal:

Favorites:

Favorite recipe?
Definitely, Laura Vitale’s chocolate mousse recipe. It never fails to impress friends and family, and it is light and fluffy enough to put restaurants to shame! When I use way more dark chocolate than the recipe recommends, it is the definition of paradise. Click here to see my post about it!

Favorite place you’ve traveled to?
Hmm, I loved Thailand when I went there last summer! Our hotel was right across the beach and Phuket was wonderful.

Favorite blog post you’ve written?
Oh no, I’m bad at picking favourites ☹. I can honestly say I love every post I’ve written, but if I had to pick, I would say The Stages Of Reading Percy Jackson or Rules For Borrowing My Books.

Favorite type of blog post to write?
I can honestly say, I love writing anything. As long as it’s writing

Favorite type of blog post to read?
I like reading pretty much everything! From popsicles to planets, I love it all. However, the writer gets bonus points from me if it’s funny! I love humor, and you can probably tell that from my posts haha.

This or That:

Sweet or savory?
No-brainer, definitely sweet! Cupcakes for president.

Baking or cooking?
Bakingggg, I am The Pastry Poet after all.

Chocolate or vanilla?
Chocolate with a capital CHOCOLATE. The darker, the better. Although, I remember tasting 99% percent chocolate one time, and let’s just say that I’d rather eat brussels sprouts for the rest of my life.

Coffee or tea?
Mmmm coffee! I can drink coffee anytime, anywhere. I just wish I was allowed to.

Summer or winter?
Summer, without a doubt. Even though I love snow, winter gloom makes me want to crawl into a hole and hibernate. Dark skies, rain clouds, and MUD?? No can do. Sunshine forever! On second thought, permanent sunshine would probably give you a not-so-hot tan.

Mountains or beach?
BEACH BEACH BEACH! Seeing as I would spend all day in the pool if I could, the coast is definitely the dream destination for me. Plus, you get ice-cream and sunshine too! It’s paradise.

Would You Rather:

Would you rather be a well known pastry chef or a famous blogger?
Well-known pastry chef, because I have had my heart set on food, writing and dance since I was a little girl, and blogging which is something I have started only recently. I love it, but it’s not the same as a childhood dream, ya know?

Would you rather spend all day reading or all day baking?
I love both things equally, but I’ll go with reading. I have spent whole days reading before, and a whole day of baking would be so fun, but so exhausting.

Would you rather follow a recipe or go wild and try your own thing?
If they had to answer for me, anyone who knows me well would say “Follow a recipe, duh!”, and I agree. Although I’m all for risks and being daring, when it comes to things I really care about, I HATE being unprepared or uncertain.

Simple Questions:

When did you first start to blog?
6th April 2017, it’s barely just been a month! I love it so far, and I’m so glad I listened to my mom, who has been telling me to start a blog for ages.

When did you get into baking/cooking?
Ever since I was a fetus Pastry Poet (okay, about eight years old), I used to love going to Coles with my mom and looking at all the pretty cupcakes in the bakery aisle. I would convince my mom to bring the box cake mixes home, and it would be my favorite thing in the world to mix up the batter with her while sitting on the counter. I guess I always saw my mom in the kitchen, since dad is the biggest foodie in existence, and I decided to make it my home too.

How often do you read books?
Easy – all the time. It’s true though. If I’m not reading a new book, I’m rereading old ones!

What is your all time favorite thing to do on your time off?
Oh no, I can’t pick a favorite for this one. Although, an ideal way to spend my free time would be to go over to my bestie’s house and chat, or play with all my friends in the society! It doesn’t really matter what we play (football, basketball, badminton, cards), it’s going to be a blast as long as we’re together. If I’m alone, then reading, watching YouTube videos, and writing would be some of my favorites.

Let’s Get A Deeper Connection:

If you were given the opportunity to become anyone or anything in the world, what would you be and why?
I have always, always dreamed of being the author of a really famous series. When I see fan art, head canons, and fan fiction of popular book characters on the internet, I marvel at how crazy it that your words can affect so many people. Additionally, I just wish I could be Annabeth Chase for a year. For a reader, there is no such thing as a ‘fictional character’. It might seem childish, but I’m not in any hurry to grow up!

If you were given the opportunity to write your own cooking/baking book would you take that opportunity in a heart beat or would you be too frightened?
I think I would take the opportunity immediately, because it combines two of my favorite things: writing and cooking!

What book has changed your life?
Well, there have been so, so many. However, I have never loved any group of characters or any storyline more than Percy Jackson. The quality of writing is just unmatched. The world is scary, fascinating, immersive, and just makes me want to jump in and be there with them! To me, that is the ultimate sign of a book well-written.

What quote has the biggest impact on your life?
“For me, the hardest thing about writing, is facing the blank page” – Octavia Spencer. I can relate to it on so many levels.

How would you describe the perfect world?
One where there are no judgmental people whatsoever, and where stereotypes don’t exist.
