Quotes to Live By 018

We are halfway through the month of March, how’s it treating you? As always with my Quotes to Live By, I’ll share some quotes and my take on them. Feel free to share your own personal favorite quotes as well as your opinion on these quotes.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain

I’ve known this quote for ages and I try to remember it whenever I’m contemplating whether or not I should do something. I’m often a bit anxious to try new things in fear of…well, I’m not quite sure what I’m afraid of I just am. I know for a fact my first time snowboarding I was terrified. I was too scared to go on the ski lift afraid of not being able to get off or getting all the way to the top and not being able to have the guts to come down. I’m just an afraid worried person. I know for a fact that it’s so much better to just put yourself out there and try new things. Travel, learn, experience life because if you go throughout life without living it to the maximum you’ll regret it.

“All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make, the better.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

This goes hand in hand with the quote above. Life is about trail and error. Life is about trying and finding new things to do even if they may seem scary. If whatever you’re trying goes well then the experiment you’ve done is excellent. If whatever you’re trying doesn’t go so well, well, isn’t that just life? Try new things, try more things, live life.

“Too many people spend money they haven’t earned, to buy things they don’t want, to impress people they don’t like.”– Will Rogers

Isn’t that the truth? We live for others approval so much for no apparent reason what so ever. How about we work hard for what we have whether it’s money or materials for ourselves? How about we try and impress ourselves each and everyday by doing something that benefits us? Stop worrying so much about what everyone else will think and worry about what you think about yourself.

  1. My all time fave quote is :
‘Be who you are and say what you feel as those who matter don’t mind and those who mind don’t matter’. – Dr Suess

  2. Someone very important to me says every now and then : “Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happend.” – this one always brings a smile to my face because it makes me remember great moments!

  3. My favourite from your selection is “All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make, the better.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson. It reassures us that sometimes failure can be a good thing because it’s all part of that ‘experiment.’

One of my personal favourite quotes is the one I’ve used as part of my blog front: “We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars” – Oscar Wilde.

Also, you don’t have to partake, obviously, but I’ve kind of included you in a challenge (not really a challenge because I just though of something and decided to tag a few people in it!) Feel free to do it though. 🙂

    The Mark Twain quote
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain
Really struck me. It’s a great reminder to get out there and explore life!
