I Tried: New Makeup Products

Hello beauty gurus (and not beauty gurus), today I want to share with you my first impressions on new makeup products. Let me start by saying, I am not a makeup guru by any means! I wish I were; I really do wish I understood how to blend properly and simply have a better understanding on makeup itself. I decided to branch out recently and buy new makeup products.

NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray

Setting spray is something I’ve never tried in my life however I’ve watched plenty of YouTube videos to realize that some people swear by setting spray. I didn’t know what to expect but I tried out the product anyway. I must admit, I was a bit terrified to close my eyes and just spray something at my face, I’m not sure why, but I was a bit afraid. Once the product landed on my face it felt wet, obviously, and eventually it did dry up. I will say, my face did feel a little sticky or stuck when moving it, but perhaps that’s just because I’m use to having nothing on my face other than lotion. I can’t give a complete reaction and full review on this product just yet because I haven’t worn it for a long period of time but I will definitely keep you updated.

Revlon Crème Eye Shadow

Crème eye shadow?! I’ve never heard of such a thing. When I was in the store, I didn’t go looking for crème eye shadow, instead I went looking for new colors I liked and didn’t have. I saw these colors and loved them however I was a bit nervous to try a crème eye shadow. When I got home, I tried out this eye shadow using an eye shadow brush and that must have been where I first went wrong because the product wasn’t going on smoothly at all, but rather streaky. I looked up online how I’m suppose to apply this product and they did say to first moisturize and prime the eye properly before applying; they also gave a tip that when applying crème eye shadow it may be easier to apply with the finger. My first reaction to this product is, I like the color but I haven’t yet used it properly to fully get the experience. I will keep you updated when I try the makeup product out properly.

Wet n Wild Coverall Correcting Palette

Now, I’ve seen people using these funky colors on their skin to correct imperfections on their faces such as dark circles and pimples. I’ve realized that the products do in fact work well so I decided to try. I used the yellow and purple to cover up my dark circles and I’m unsure if I applied enough because it didn’t seem to do much. I do know that Wet n Wild doesn’t have the best products in the world but I gave it a go anyway. Once again, I need to try it out a bit more to give a full review.

These are the products I’ve purchased recently. PLEASE, if you love makeup or have any recommendations that aren’t too expensive please leave it in the comments because I really am trying to get into makeup. Thank you in advance!

  1. I have been interested in creme eye shadow for awhile, but am worried I am too old for it! Does it crease up in the eye lid? I don’t need anything that might make me look like I have more wrinkles!

    1. Haha, when I first applied it without any moisturizer on my eyes, yes it did crack. However if you make sure your eyelids are moisturized you should be good ! Give it a go, the worst that can happen is you don’t like the way it feels or looks

  2. Love that setting spray. I am obsessed with setting sprays. I have my Nyx and Gerrard C and Maybelline. Love the fact that makes my makeup longwearing and nice all day

  3. I love the NYX dewy finish setting spray! It makes my skin look like it’s glowing. 🙂 Revlon has ColorStay Creme Shadow. They remind me of Maybelline’s Color Tattoos, but they are easier to work with and aren’t as “gloopy”. I love them! 😀
