Smoothies

Let’s face it, it’s extremely difficult to get our daily dose of fruits and vegetables, however, it’s not impossible. A simple way to get many fruits in you is by making a smoothie or a juice out of fruits. The following are several smoothie/juice recipes that I personally drink and enjoy.

  1. The first smoothie I recommend you try is very sweet, but very delicious! You will need:
    – One banana
    – Two handfuls of strawberries
    – One pear
    – One orange
    – Water
Simply peel the banana, cut it up and place it in the blender, wash strawberries and cut their stems then place them into the blender, wash pear, cut it up into pieces and place it in the blender, and squeeze the orange into the blender then add water and blend away! IMG_2417
  2. Don’t be put off by the color of this next drink, it’s very good and healthy too! You will need:
    – A handful of spinach
    – A handful of strawberries
    – Two kiwis
    – One banana
    – Two oranges
    – Water
Wash the spinach and strawberries, cut the stem off the strawberries, peel the banana and kiwis then place all in blender. Squeeze the two oranges and add water then blend it all together.

  3. The next juice is much like the previous one. You will need:
    -Two handfuls of spinach
    – Five or six strawberries
    – One kiwi
    – One apple
    – Water
Simply wash the spinach, apples and strawberries, cut the stem of the strawberries and peel the kiwis. Put everything in a blender and mix it all up!

  4. Next you will need:
    – A handful of strawberries
    – One apple
    – One kiwi
    – One orange
    – One banana
    – Water
Once again you will need to wash the strawberries and the apple then cut the stems off the strawberries and cut the apple then peel the kiwis and banana. Once you’ve done all that squeeze the orange into a blender, add all the fruit and water.

  5. Finally we have an extremely simple juice that is very quick. You will need:
    – Handful and half of frozen mangos
    – Two handfuls of strawberries
    – One banana
    – Water
As always, wash and cut the stems off the strawberries place everything into the blender and blend away.

Tips/ideas to keep in mind:

  • The amount of water you add will make the smoothie/juice either more or less smooth. I personally like smooth drinks and therefore I add a good amount of water but you’ll have to experiment to see what you like best.
  • All water I use is from the fridge to make my drink extra cold, I personally like a colder juice because it is much more fresh.
  • Instead of regular water, you may want to replace it with coconut water if you like coconut water.
  • Note all of the above recipes make about 2-3 glasses worth so either cut them in half if you want just one cup or save the smoothie for the next day too

Hope you try out these recipes and enjoy them! They are very delicious and healthy, great for any time of the day. Enjoy!
