Get Fit

Feel as though you aren’t keeping up with your New Year’s Resolution of being more active? Or perhaps you’re just feeling a bit uncomfortable in your own skin, stressed or anxious? Doing more simple workouts that are easy to complete can motivate you to continue your resolution as well as make you feel more comfortable in your own skin and more relaxed.

The first workout you may want to consider is walking. YES, walking! It may sound simple and perhaps ineffective but it is in fact much better than sitting on the sofa stuffing your face with chips while binge watching the latest Netflix series. A simple walk in the park can greatly improve your overall fitness as well as help you clear your mind from the stresses of the day. Best part is, you don’t have to do it alone if you don’t want to, get a friend to join you or perhaps a pet. So get up from that couch, shake off that slump, put on some comfy sneakers and go for a walk.

Another workout plan that can certainly ease the mind and strength the body is Yoga. Practicing yoga has many benefits such as increased flexibility, increased muscle tone, improved respiration and energy and much more. It may not be too difficult to find a yoga studio near you, however, classes can be pretty pricey which once again can cause you to not want to go. Don’t be so discouraged! Simply go out, buy a yoga mat and do the yoga practices at home. If you’re thinking that you can’t do that because you don’t know any yoga at all, take that negative energy and throw it away because you can practice yoga in the comfort of your own home via Youtube. That’s right, on Youtube there are thousands of videos of instructors who teach you step by step how to perform certain positions. My favorite instructor to watch is Yoga With Adriene she not only explains everything you have to do, but she also motivates you to keep going and trying.

The final workout you may want to try is aerobics. The benefits of aerobics include improved respiration, improved cardiovascular efficiency, a toned body and much more. Once again, classes can probably be found in your local neighborhood, however if you are on a budget, Youtube definitely has plenty of videos to watch. By simply typing in “aerobics for beginners” you immediately get thousands of videos to watch. My personal favorites include: 40 Minute Full Body,20 Minute Ultimate , and 10 Minute Retro.

As you see, there is no need to go to a gym or lift heavy amounts of weights to stay active and healthy. Doing simple workouts such as going for a walk, yoga or aerobics can not only benefit the body but the mind as well. Put on some workout clothes and go get active!
